Palazzo Ardere
Blurring blue into blue, the evening light blends with the subtley patterned walls of the salotto, filling the room with illusory mists and washing the pale gold of the marble floor with a watery gleam. West, arched windows survey passing gondolas in the Canal Grande. Rising, falling, iridescent draperies lift and fall on the suspiring breeze from the lagoon. Descending from the ceiling, a spun glass chandelier uncoils fluid, brittle arms like a winter frosted vine. At the far end of the room, a luminous marble fireplace glimmers, flanked gy the tall statues bearing candelabrum. Framing the hearthside rug, a velvet sofa and brocade chaise offer cushioned comfort. Blue on gold, a silk Tabriz adorns the space beneath the windows on the Canal Grande. From below comes the soft sussuration of water lapping stone, a ceaseless, sensuous erosion.
