You stand in the very 'center' of Athens. This is where all of the activity is - merchants sell their wares, citizens debate issues, and friends exchange gossip. You notice that the merchants adjust their weighing and measuring instruments every time an offical looking man walks by their stand. This man is a market inspector, and his job was to check to be sure that the taxes were received, the measures and weights were proper, and that the customer always pay full price.
